Well, I’ll be hornswoggled! I heard it through the tomato vine that some folks were a bit baffled by the way I talk!
Some have even called it mumbo jumbo, if you can believe it!
It’s unbearable to think that I might be confusing you and I’d be a snollygoster if didn’t take the time to clarify things. So, without any more lollygagging, I present to you…
…a brief explanation of some of my very best-loved – but slightly perplexing – words! They’re quite fun to use in sentences. You should give them a try!
That nervous, achy feeling in your tummy on the first day of school, or whenever you feel scared. Here’s my tip to make the collywobbles disappear: take a deep breath in through your nose – like you’re smelling a delicious bowl of vegetable soup – then slowly release it through your mouth – like you’re gently cooling off that hot soup!
Did someone ever tell you a lie and trick you? It’s not a good feeling! Maybe it made you mad, embarrassed or sad. But let me tell you a secret: we all get hornswoggled now and then! Just laugh it off and think twice before you believe that trickster next time!
To move very sloooooooowly, sometimes to avoid doing something you just don’t want to do! When mom or dad says, “Clean your room,” does it take you FOREVER to get going? That’s lollygagging!
A sneaky, no-good person who thinks only of themselves. Do you know a selfish snollygoster? My word of advice: Smile politely, but avoid them whenever you can!
There – now wasn’t that a hoot? Learning fun new words always puts a smile on my face.
What about you? Do you like discovering new words? Or do you ever use big, funny words that confuse your friends? If so, I’d love to know what they are. Tell me all about it in the comments below.
Until next time!
