Planet Planted is full of places to explore, and we want to experience them all! We love when Yammy Grammy packs up the squash mobile for a road trip adventure, but if you’re like us, the tough part is waiting to get from here to there!
That’s why Brocc, Cornelius, Kaley and I put together some of our very favorite brain-teasing, tummy-tickling car games to help you pass the time.
Going on a Picnic: Who doesn’t love a picnic? The first player starts with the letter A by saying, “I’m going on a picnic, and I’m bringing…” and then lists an item starting with the letter A that they could use at a picnic (like apples or almonds). The next player does the same for B, and so on. Get creative – besides food, what else could come in handy at a picnic? (Think about where you would sit, what games you might play and what other things you might need for eating outdoors.)
I Spy…the Alphabet: Keep your eyes open and get ready to shout out your finds! Players start at the beginning of the alphabet and try to find objects starting with A (airplane!), then B (bird!), then C (clouds!) etc. until you make it all the way to Z.
Finish the Story: This game always gets the giggles going! Players come up with funny or interesting stories by working together. The first player begins by making up the beginning lines of a story but stopping to let other players join in. For example, Player 1 might start with: “Once upon a time, a giraffe named Fred woke up early and decided to make some yummy ….” The next player then picks up where Player 1 left off. What did Fred decide to eat? Where did he eat breakfast? What did he do next?
Would You Rather: In this game, players challenge each other to choose between silly (and sometimes gross!) options. The first player comes up with two options and picks a second player to answer the question. Example: Would you rather…eat a spoonful of dirt or a spoonful of sand? (Of course, in real life, you’d never do either! But this is a fun and creative game, so let your imagination run wild.)
The License Plate Game: Players get points for spotting as many different state license plates as they can. This game can go on for a loooong time, so start small (for example, whoever spots five different state plates wins)
