Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it’s one of my very favorite holidays! Sure, I love all the yummy food that we help Yammy Grammy make to celebrate the day, but what I really love is thinking about all the good things that I’m thankful for.
Last year, on the day before Thanksgiving, I started trying to count my blessings, but I ran out of fingers and toes! There are just SO MANY things I’m thankful for! So, to help me remember them all, I decided to start my very own Thank You Diary.
Here’s how it works:
I use a notebook (that I hide in a super-secret spot in my bedroom) to keep track of all the little things that bring a smile to my face or make me feel warm and cozy inside. Because you’re my buddy, I’ll share a few of my latest entries with you:
- I’m thankful for all the beautiful red, orange and gold leaves on my favorite tree in our yard. (It’s my favorite place for quiet time…)
- I’m thankful that Basil jumped up on my bed this morning and gave me wake-up kisses, or I would have missed the school bus!
- I’m thankful that I got ALL the words on my spelling test right – and I’m thankful that Brocc took the time to help me study them!
Sometimes I’ll even draw pictures of the things I’m grateful for, like flowers and rainbows!
I discovered that once I started jotting down all the happy things that happen throughout the day, the not-so-nice things seem a LOT less important.
Give it a try yourself – I bet you’ll be smiling in no time!
Oh – I almost forgot! I’m also very thankful for YOU!
Wishing you a happy day!
Love,
Carrotina
