If my scientific observations are correct, you’re reading this note from Earth, the spectacular and always fascinating planet located many moons away from my home on Planet Planted. (Did you know that Earth is around 4.54 billion years old? I don’t think there’s a cake anywhere in the solar system that could hold all those birthday candles!)
My friends – Carrotina, Cornelius and Kaley – and I were extremely excited about returning to Stem Elementary after a nice summer break. Truth be told, I enjoy learning all year-round – so “back-to-school” activities are really more of a formality for me!
But can I share a secret with you? I must admit, there’s NOTHING like the sensation of cracking open a new textbook…the feel and smell of the crisp new paper…and page after page of new ideas just waiting to make their way into my brain. (Speaking of brains, by the time you’re an adult, your brain will weigh about 3 pounds!)
There’s just SO MUCH to learn that I can barely contain my delight!
When it comes to academics, I consider myself a well-rounded kinda guy, though I do believe that science and math are my true favorites. There’s just something about the all those facts and figures leaping off the page that get my heart pumping! (By the way, did you know that your heart beats around 100,000 times a day? It’s true!)
Speaking of numbers…do you like to count? Because I sure do!
Sometimes, for fun, I’ll count all of the fruits and veggies at the grocery store and then multiply them by 1,000,000,000.
Here’s a fun sheet that you can practice with, if you like counting too! PRINT IT!
Well, I better get back to studying now, but here’s wishing you a galaxy of good luck this school year!
